Val's Famous Pizza & Grinders: Delight in Authentic Pizza and Grinders in Chesterton

A true gem of Chesterton! A real neighborhood pizza place with great food, great prices and always friendly staff. Pictured is one of their stuffed sandwiches (amazing). But they have a whole menu full of grinders, pasta, pizza, and all the fried apps. Love the homemade chips, they are fried to order, and are a must with the Romano Ranch dip. Quick tip, the bar is beer/wine only, no liquor, but they do have a big selection of beer.

Wow! I have a happy wife because I picked this place.i have to say I'm kind of a pizza snob..We love pizza and Italian food this place was 100% terrific!! spot on! My wife had a salad and that was even more than expected It had pepperoni green and black olives, tomatoes, red onions, mushrooms ,a pepperoncini, bunch of cheese on top and a delicious homemade Italian dressing! Lots of detail for a salad! The pizza at a delicious perfectly cooked thin crust.. Great tasting sauce good amount of toppings and cheese.. And you could even taste extra Italian spices on the pizza which I love! I'm sure the rest of the menu is outstanding too, as we checked out what everybody else ordered! And the service was top notch too! I forced myself to save some for tomorrow's breakfast!

After a day of hiking through the Dunes, we were happy to find a restaurant with 4+ stars. The ratings were true. Our waitress was very kind and patient with our questions about the menu. She was prompt on refills and a delight to talk to. The food was good and we will definitely stop back by when we return in the summer for a new Dunes experience.

Went during the week for the 3 pizza Challenge it was pretty empty inside but it was great and only $2.50 for a miller light and free doughboys were so good nice spot!

I probably would have never found this place if it wasn’t for my sister working here. This isn’t a biased opinion btw, good food is good food, bad food is bad food. This place has the BEST pizza. I have to be soy and dairy free for my baby and their vegan cheese is so good, the sauce-immaculate, the crust-crunchy and delicious. I literally love this place and try to find any excuse to stop in and eat here. It’s been my saving grace since it’s quite literally the only pizza I can eat and pizza was my favorite meal. My husband and young son also approve too and say it’s pretty darn good! Stop in and give it a try, the atmosphere is cozy and welcoming.

Let me say I am now putting this as my favorite restaurant in NWI. The pizza was fabulous. It was like a Schererville Zuni's pizza all over again. The Bomb was an Italian Beef that was so tender and the pocket that was incased around it was a cheesy garlicky goodnes. My friend Melissa had the Traditional Spagoni w/ 2 meatballs. They use angel hair stuffed in a garlic bread pot pie w/ melted cheese on top of 2 meatballs. With their perfect blend of sweet and zesty red sauce its quite delicious. The doughboys were a salty and parmesean cheesy delight. The Peanut Butter Puck was a peanut butter mousse masterpiece. Ariana was tentative and knowledgeable. 5 stars on everything. It reminds me of the 80s and 90s inside. Again you better go check it out. Thanks again staff!

I have to give major credit to whoever delivers to my house. This gentleman is by far the most caring delivery driver I have ever experienced. In September I had major shoulder reconstructive surgery. I had one good arm. Every time this man has delivered to my house he has helped me get the pizza in or set it on my table right next to the door and shut my front door for me. He remembered my injury which I was so grateful for. I ordered again last night and he came to my door and I was able to take the pizza from him and he asked “is the shoulder doing better?” This doesn’t seem like a big deal but in today’s world genuine kindness is hard to find. This driver 1000% deserves a raise. May your pillow always be cool, friend! Thank you!

Awesome pizza. Very hot, nice then crispy crust, perfect amount of sauce, plenty of cheese and toppings.. Im not going to lie. I was really surprised about how good this pizza was/is. Fried dough boys were really good as well!! Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. It was a little hot inside, and that was most likely due to the ovens pumping out that awesome pizza!
